View on North Broadway

north of Montana Avenue

The street scene along Broadway north of Montana Avenue drastically changed after 1940.  Fire ravaged the elegant Northern Hotel that year, and a modern 10-story hotel opened in 1941.  In the two decades that followed, Chapple Drug, Yellowstone National Bank and City Hall, with its distinctive tower, were all lost to urban development.
