Eagle Hotel, 2415 Montana Avenue

The Eagle Hotel was built in 1909 by Austrian immigrant Matthias Thomas, who raised his five children in a second floor apartment of the hotel. The hotel was reportedly used as an auxiliary hospital during the flu epidemic of 1918. The building was vacant from 1983-1993, temporary home of transients and pigeons that flew freely through broken windows, until local entrepreneur Michael Schaer
renovated the Victorian Italianate style structure.
